Saving Money - grrrrr

So, it's official, Craig and I are going home to the U.S. for 2 glorious weeks for my cousin Dave's wedding to one of the most fabulous people I've ever met - Tiffany. We're SO excited to see the both of them but travels to the U.S. bring up a lot of "emotions" for us.

OK, by "emotions" I really mean issues about money. We're currently plotting our savings and how much we want to spend/how much we can afford.

A good friend of mine blogs about saving money. The reason I bring her up is because she's a bit of an inspiration to me. She blogs from Canada and eradicated $60k in 18 months making $65k a year.

Your mind is probably spinning right now. Mine was when I read how she did it. Every once in a while I check out her blog to gain inspiration. My latest inspiration - a year without spending. Come August, I am going to embark on a REALLY large endeavor. I'm going to go one year without spending.

You're probably thinking I'm nuts but, I promise, I'm not. Aside from things I'm already paying for (gym membership, insurance...necessities), I will only spend money on necessities.

Things I won't buy:
Things for the home (redecorating)
Kitchen items
Clothing (aside from the normal budget I set up)
Trinkets and whatnot
Jewelry (unless I'm on vacation)
Lotions/perfumes (I have SO many)

Things I will buy:
Food
Toiletries (again, necessities)
Gifts for holidays, birthdays, and special occasions
Date night twice a month - with the help of Groupon coupons.

I'm probably leaving off a whole SLEW of things but those are the necessities.

Can you think of anything else I should "trim" from the list?
